AN ABODE OF PEACOCKS

Sitting by the window with a hot cup of coffee, and enjoying the rain outside. This is a beautiful image that relaxes and refreshes you in the monsoons.
But what if you could add something to make your experience even more memorable? Say perhaps a dancing peacock to the view. Isn't it perfect? If being with nature and witnessing such a beautiful sight is what you're looking for, and then head to Morachi Chincholi. The beautiful place, just 50 kms away from Pune on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway, is a peacock sanctuary. With more than 2,500 peacocks in the village, the sight of peacocks dancing as they welcome the rains is a common one.

It's also a perfect getaway from the bustling city life. Although there are no ultra-luxurious resorts and commercial activities, you will not miss them as friendly villagers and their hospitality will ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. You can experience the authentic village life during your stay.

You can spend quality time at the farm as they let you do the farming. You can also relish Maharashtra's specialties like joonka and bhakri. They also serve amazing pakodas, which are a perfect treat during the monsoons. The chilly nights are made comfortable with a bonfire. The villagers are quite tech-savvy and have their own websites to promote their little tourist spot. Hence it's easy to contact them and plan a trip.

Plan your trip:

The best time to spot the peacocks is in the morning between 6 and 8 am and in the evening between 5 and 7 pm. Once you reach the village, you are treated to a delicious breakfast by the host. You can take a tractor/bullock cart ride to the farm and experience the irrigation and farming life.
If you are tired and need an afternoon nap, enjoy one in the cool shadow of mango trees. In the evenings, you could go for a short trip around the village which has some temples. Enjoy the typical Maharashtrian village life and you will return home with pleasant memories.
